The Long Necked Hilltribe

September 23, 2011

This is a picture that I took in a Karen village in Mae Hong Son. This is where the famous “long-necked hilltribe” lived. I went there back in 2002. I was quite excited to see them for the first time. However, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It was basically a human zoo where you paid 250 baht as you entered and were then free to roam around taking pictures. I never did go back.
